Maine Discovery Museum is delighted to announce that we are hosting an exhibit from Maine artist Karen Talbot: Maine's River Run Fish, in celebration of the International Year of Salmon. This art exhibit, featuring 12 beautifully created paintings of Maine’s river run fish, will open on Thursday, January 24, 2019 at the Maine Discovery Museum’s Main Street Gallery.
The 7:30pm opening will include a Maine Science Festival Pop-up event: Salmon in Maine, produced in partnership with NOAA’s National Marine Fisheries Service Maine Field Station and the Maine Discovery Museum. In addition to the art exhibit, the MSF Pop-up Event will include brief presentations on the history of salmon in Maine, the scientific study of Atlantic salmon that NOAA has done (and continues to do), and Karen’s work to meld the scientific with the artistic to tell the story of Maine’s river run fish, and salmon in particular.
