As the part of 2018 Long-Term Marine Ecosystem Research International Symposium organized by the Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology (GIST), a special half-day session on the Pacific salmon monitoring program and the IYS initiative/activities will be held in Busan on December 3, 2018. Invited presenters/speakers will be Mark Saunders (IYS Director, North Pacific Region), Aleksander Starovoitov (or Oleg Ivanov) (Russian Ocean Survey, TINRO-Center, Russia), a salmon scientist (possibly Kentaro Honda) from the Japan Fisheries Research and Education Agency for the Japanese high-seas salmon monitoring program, a salmon scientist (possibly Richard Brodeur) from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (USA) for salmon monitoring program off the Oregon coast, Sang-Sun Yoon (former Research Professor at University of British Columbia, Columbia River monitoring program), Chung Il Lee (Coastal Monitoring Program in Korea), and Suam Kim (NPAFC President), who will give an introductory speech on salmon monitoring program around the Pacific Rim.
