On March 11, 2020 Canadian charter vessel Pacific Legacy departed from Point Hope Shipyard in Victoria, BC to spend a month in the Gulf of Alaska studying the winter ecology of Pacific salmon. 12 scientists from Canada, Russia and the United States spent a month in the high seas gathering samples and data in order to try and establish the mechanisms that regulate salmon abundance.
