The goal of the “Salmon Comeback!” campaign is the return of the Atlantic salmon to the whole of the upper Rhine river basin.
Originally the
The Salmon Smolt is the final product of the river. Losses at this stage of the life cycle cannot be replaced. With numbers of returning adult Salmon continuing to decline, we need to make sure as many Smolts make it to the sea as possible.
Finding the answers: In 2019, International Year of the Salmon, The Tweed Foundation is starting a new study to track the migration of our Salmon Smolts down the river. We need to know how many of our Smolts reach the sea. It is only with hard evidence on the losses that take place in the river that management can be targeted to the best effect.
